Whether you’ve been watching TV on your internetclear connection or you’ve got a cable box at home you know there are tons of great comedies out right now. If you need help deciding which one’s right for you let us give you a simple guide to the nuances of “awkward humor” which is the newest laughter of the modern sitcom.
Modern Family – the uncrowned king in the awkward humor category, Modern Family is all about great timing and sarcastic remarks. If you’re going to like awkward humor as a whole you’re going to love this show so it’s a great place to start.
The Office – one of the shows that started it all, it’s less awkward now that Steve Carrell’s gone but it’s stillawkward. IF you get uncomfortable watching people squirm on screen you won’t like this type of humor but if not, this is a real gem.
The League – FX is really making some great shows nowadays and The League is one of them. Sports humor can’t be better than this and it’s awkward all right – it’s all in the casting and the sarcasm.

Laughter is good for the soul and helps promote good health. In fact, The Bible States in Proverbs that laughter is like medicine, it is good for the heart. Many Christians enjoy comedy and like to get a good laugh, but do not care for the vulgarity and profanity that is found in the typical comedies. Fortunately, there are many Christian Comedians that strive to deliver good, clean laughter. Some of the most popular Christian comedians include: Rik Roberts, Jeff Allen, Scott Gregory and Anita Renfroe.

Rik Roberts is a Christian comedian from Nashville, Tennessee. He also sings comedy songs. Jeff Allen is also from Nashville, Tennessee. He provides laughter by making jokes about everyday topics such as marriage and family live. Scott Gregory is from Indianapolis, In. His comedy sketches make him a favorite among Christian audiences and he also won several accolades from it. Anita Renfroe is from Atlanta, Georgia. She provides sassy, tell-it-like-is comedy.

These days it is hard for Christians to find good, clean entertainment. Christian comedians have proven that it is possible to be funny without being vulgar or offensive. People who are looking for a good, clean family activity should consider going to see a Christian comedian.

Stand up comedy continues to be a major draw for audiences all over the world, and there are as many different styles of stand up humor as there are styles of movie humor. If you want to know who will make you laugh, you will need to do some homework.

One good resource for this is the Comedy Central cable channel. They regularly feature stand-up shows, both new and vintage, by a wide variety of artists, and they can really give you an insight into your sense of humor and who tickles it.

For example, Bill Maher and Jon Stewart are known for their political humor. If you enjoy good-old-boy laughs, try Ron White, Jeff (“You May Be a Redneck”) Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy or Bill Engvall. For wry intellectual humor, try Mike Birbiglia, Patton Oswalt or Jim Gaffigan. Want “edgy”? Try (if you dare) Eddie Izzard, Bobcat Goldthwait or Emo Phillips. For musical humor, Stephen Lynch and Henry Phillips combine evil wit with true musical talent. For the Black perspective, there are Katt Williams and Bill Bellamy. Shows by all these people, and many more, are rerun frequently on the Comedy Channel (and most of them are still performing at comedy clubs around the country). You’re sure to find a comedian you love.

Stand up comedy, once a staple in nightclubs, have evolved, and not necessarily for the better. Unfortunately, very funny comedians have taken vulgarity to its limits and frankly, it is tiring.

If you like silly stand up comedy, Robin Williams and Steve Martin really top the list. Robin Williams is certainly not for children, however, sadly, he can get raunchy, too. Williams has a quick mind and his racing wit and antics have not slowed at all since he’s aged or had heart valve replacement surgery. Martin, more family friendly, relies on silly songs, (great banjo playing, too!) puns, and props for the majority of his humor.Didn’t catch that? This explains it. His straight expression can make even a stoic laugh!

Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, and Bill Cosby are the kinds of stand up comedians that make us laugh at ourselves. They talk of every day life, their families and situations everyone can relate to and they are family friendly. These comedians rarely, if ever, use foul language or explicit references. These comedians prove you don’t have to use people of any age. Cosby’s deliberate delivery of details keeps you waiting on his every word, until finally, he makes his point, again, inciting spewing laughter!.
